Melbourne Motor Show is back

The Melbourne Motor Show is back in April, for the first time in over a decade, and 100 years since it was first held there.

More than 300 vehicles are expected to be on show, with 120 stalls and exhibitions.

At Melbourne Convention Exhibition Centre on April 5-6, tickets are now on ***** from $35 for adults, $19 for under 12s, with children under six years entering free.

Road vehicles, high-performance cars, four-wheel drives and motorcycles will be there. Exhibits will range from vintage to electric vehicles.

At the fancy end of the show will be Porsche, McLaren and Brabus, but there will also be more than 70 aftermarket and lifestyle booths, interactive installations, hands-on experiences and special guests.

+ The Melbourne Motor Show has lined up Porsche as the exclusive manufacturing partner of the show. Porsche has been involved with *********** performance motoring since 1951, when Melbourne businessman Norman Hamilton imported a Maroon 356 Coupe and Fish Silver Blue 356 Cabriolet.

+ British supercar manufacturer McLaren will take a key spot.

+ ******* high-performance maker Brabus will show aftermarket parts.

+ And there will be Kia Motors, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Peugeot, Isuzu, MG, Foton, Deepal, Mahindra, JAC, Geely-Farizon and insurance partner Shannons Insurance.

+ MG Motors Australia chief commercial officer Giles Belcher is promising “a few surprises from MG in April as well as *********** exclusives”.

+ Quality parts and car audio suppliers will include Haltech, Bendix, Garrett, Uniclutch, Trico and Philips.

+ Nearly half the stalls will be dedicated to aftermarket accessories, parts and mods.

MAN BEHIND THE SHOW

The man behind the show is Craig Phinn — and it is a credit to his perseverance that it’s back, after a gap of more than a decade.

Craig’s everyday business is in car storage facilities. He has more than 300 cars stored, including some of the rarest in the world, like a 1928 Mercedes Roadster.

But he has found time and energy to champion the Melbourne Motor Show, for which he is director of operations.

And he is quick to praise the enthusiasm of the *********** motoring community, which has already got behind it.
