NJ man strangled girlfriend, then hid body under bed, court papers say

PLAINSBORO – A Trenton man charged with murdering his girlfriend allegedly used an electrical cord to strangle her, then hid her body under her bed.

Rahim Johnson, 43, has been charged with murdering Victoria Lee, 26, who had been reported missing on Jan. 30. Her body was found by police on Feb. 25.

During a police interview, Johnson admitted arguing with Lee on Jan. 24 and alleged she cut him with a knife. He said he attempted to stop her but because he was “out of it,” he was unsure if he had something to “do with it or not,” the affidavit of probable cause states.

Once Johnson said he “came to,” Lee was dead so he hid her under the bed and took her cell phone and used it along with her banking apps, the court document states.

The criminal complaint indicates an electrical cord was used to strangle Lee.

On Jan. 30 Lee’s father reported her missing to the Plainsboro Police Department.

Her father reported last seeing his daughter at her Plainsboro home on Jan. 24 and that his daughter’s boyfriend, Rahim “Yak-Qui” P. Johnson also lived at the home.

Lee’s father said he last saw Johnson at the home on Jan. 25, the affidavit of probable cause states.

After Lee was reported missing, several people told police they had received text messages from her requesting money through Zelle and Cash App accounts.

Lee’s bank records show transactions made in Trenton during the time Lee was missing including up until Feb. 25 when her body was found by police.

Besides *******, Johnson, who has a criminal record, has been charged with third-degree unlawful possession of a weapon and fourth-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick.

Johnson was arrested in Trenton on Feb. 26 on a parole violation. The state Department of Corrections website shows Johnson, who was released from prison on Oct. 23, 2024, has a criminal record dating back to 2002 for receiving stolen property.

The website also lists prison sentences for resisting arrest/eluding, endangering the ******** of a child, burglary, receiving stolen property and simple assault.

Anyone with information or surveillance footage of the area is asked to call Plainsboro Officer Daniel Larocca at 609-799-2333 Ext. 678 or Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Stephanie Redline at 732-745-3316.
