Lotto: Thornlie man in his 40s identified as Saturday Lotto winner of $3.3 million after Slikpik 50 purchase

A Thornlie man in his 40s has been identified as the lucky winner of a $3.3 million Lotto haul resulting from Saturday’s draw.

The player purchased the Slikpik 50 ticket from Forrest Lakes Newsagency in Thornlie last week on a lunch run.

“It was just a normal day, normal lunch. I didn’t buy anything exciting, I just thought I’d grab a ticket while I was there,” he said.

Upon hearing a ticket sold at his local newsagency had claimed a Division One win, the man was compelled to check his numbers.

The next day, the man fronted Lotterywest HQ where he was informed of exactly how much money he’d won — and was shocked to learn he’d become an instant multimillionaire.

“I can’t put it into words. It’s unbelievable and it doesn’t feel real,” he said.

“Without a doubt, this win is absolutely life changing for me.”

Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender said no WA player this year had claimed a greater Lotto prize.

“It’s a good job this player hadn’t had leftovers or made a sandwich at home for lunch that day,” she joked.

On Thursday night, one Aussie player hit the jackpot after claiming a life-changing $30m playing Powerball.
