Luka Doncic had 19 points, 15 rebounds and 12 assists in his first game against the Dallas Mavericks since they traded him to the Lakers, leading Los Angeles to a 107-99 victory.

Doncic secured his first triple-double with the Lakers on an emotional night for the Slovenian superstar, who was blindsided by the seismic trade sending him to Los Angeles for Anthony Davis three weeks ago.

Doncic warmly greeted his former teammates on Tuesday night (Wednesday AEDT), but also took a few portentous looks at the Mavs’ bench during the match.

He struggled with his shot, going 6-of-17, but capped a superb playmaking performance with an assist to LeBron James for a clinching lay-up with 32 seconds left.

James helped his new teammate by scoring 16 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter as Los Angeles (35-21) held on for their third straight win and their 13th in 16 games.

Kyrie Irving scored 35 points and Klay Thompson added 22 for the Mavericks (31-28).

Doncic’s triple-double was the 81st of his career – the seventh most in NBA history – and his fourth this season. His last for Dallas was on December 15.

In Toronto, Jaylen Brown scored 24 points and Derrick White had 22 as the Boston Celtics extended their winning streak to six games by beating the Raptors 111-101.

Payton Pritchard scored 20 points and Jayson Tatum had 19 points and 11 assists as the Celtics improved to 24-6 on the road.

RJ Barrett scored 22 points and Scottie Barnes had 21, but the Raptors lost for the seventh time in nine matches.

In Orlando, Ty Jerome scored 20 points in 21 minutes as Cleveland routed the Magic 122-82 for their eighth consecutive win.

Max Strus, Evan Mobley and De’Andre Hunter each scored 17 points for Cleveland.

The Cavaliers shot 56.3 per cent overall while improving to an NBA-best 48-10.

In Houston, Jalen Green had 25 points and Alperen Sengun 23 to lead the Rockets to a 100-97 win over Milwaukee in a game where Amen Thompson was ejected for a hard foul on Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Bucks were down by two with about four minutes left when Thompson pulled Antetokounmpo down from behind by the head and neck as he went up for a shot. The play was reviewed and determined to be a flagrant foul 2 and Thompson was ejected.

Antetokounmpo had 27 points and 10 rebounds for the Bucks, who had a four-game winning streak snapped.

In Memphis, Ja Morant had 29 points and eight assists, his final one a feed to Jaylen Wells for a dunk with 9.1 seconds left in overtime, as Memphis closed the extra ******* with a 7-0 run to beat Phoenix 151-148.

Jaren Jackson Jr scored 28 points before fouling out in the fourth quarter. Desmond Bane had 25 points and nine assists as Memphis moved into a tie for second place in the Western Conference.

In San Francisco, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green scored 15 points each as Golden State beat the Charlotte Hornets to join an elite group with their 3000th franchise victory.

Only four other teams – the Lakers, Celtics, New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers – have reached the milestone.

Buddy Hield scored 16 points off the bench to lead the Warriors, who have won four in a row to move into the eighth spot in the Western Conference.

In New Orleans, the Pelicans completed a two-game home game sweep of San Antonio with a 109-103 victory.
