TikTok: Why is the US going after the popular social media app?

This week US lawmakers passed a bill that forces TikTok’s ******** parent company ByteDance to sell the hugely popular social media app, or be banned in America.

But why is the US doing this? And if it has to do with suspicions about China, why is it going after a company headquartered in Singapore? Will TikTok really get banned?

The BBC’s Asia Business Reporter Suranjana Tewari in Singapore answers these questions.
