Tree falls on University of Oregon student; statewide wind advisory issued

A tree fell on a University of Oregon student near University Hall, leaving the student with injuries.

Eugene Springfield Fire responded to the scene, receiving the call around 11 a.m. Monday. According to UO, the student was transported to a local hospital by 11:30 a.m. UO was unable to confirm the severity of the student’s injuries.

UO urged those near campus to be cautious and alert during windy and rainy weather. A safety team was sent out Monday at noon to rope off areas where trees limbs had fallen onto paths and assess damages.

“Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects,” NWS stated. “Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.”
