About 6% of eligible Ontario voters cast an early ballot in snap election, data shows

Just over six per cent of eligible Ontario voters cast an early ballot in the snap provincial election, preliminary data shows.

Elections Ontario said Monday that 678,789 — or roughly 6.14 per cent of the electorate — voted in the three-day advanced voting *******.

It’s basically impossible to draw any firm conclusions from the data. The early election call by PC Leader Doug Ford meant the advanced voting ******* was considerably condensed, as required by the province’s electoral law.

In 2022, more than one million people, or about 9.92 per cent, cast an advanced ballot. But that was over a 10-day window.

In 2018, the advanced voting ******* was five days, and about 6.8 per cent of those eligible participated, according to Elections Ontario.

Very little about potential election day turnout can be gleaned from the preliminary advanced voting data. That said,
