De Jongh rose to fame in the glam rock band, Hush, in the 1970s, where he played rhythm and bass guitar alongside vocalist, Keith Lamb. He later performed with Aussie music royalty, John Paul Young. The band had two top 10 hits; Bony Moronie, which peaked at number four in 1975 on the Aussie charts, and Glad All Over, which reached number eight. Prior to Hush, De Jongh was a member of the Geelong band, Redhouse Roll Band. He also appeared in a band called Shadowfax. Friend Ian Lovell told Noise11 that De Jongh was active in the music business until he became too ill. “Jacques worked as a chef of some note. He had a restaurant,” Lovell explained to the publication. “He also ran a rehearsal studio and helped all sorts of bands.
