Shortly after, officers located Hernandez in a vehicle in the 1000 block of North Avenue Q Drive with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, Moreno, was also shot. He was taken to University Medical Center via ambulance with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Hernandez’s death led to the investigation being turned over to the Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit.

Other information about the shooting, including how the arrested man and youth were linked to the violence, was not immediately clear as the investigation is ongoing.
