is investigating a “possible *********” on Friday morning after a woman’s body reportedly showed signs of physical assault around the time of her death.

Public Information Officer Tommie Brown said the incident occurred around 6 a.m. Friday in the 3200 block of Sears Street.

Brown identified the deceased victim as Amanda Harris, 36.

According to Brown, a family member transported Harris to a hospital. Brown said Harris was reportedly deceased upon arrival at the hospital.

“The victim’s body appeared to have been physically assaulted,” Brown said.

According to the Clarion Ledger’s records, Harris’ death would mark the eighth ********* that JPD has investigated in 2025. Around this time in 2024, JPD was working 15 ********* cases.

No suspect information has been released at this time.
