On Saturday, the last round of pennant qualifying fixtures will be played at Kalgoorlie, and on Sunday they will host Boulder in the grand final. Teams from Boulder and Kalgoorlie played off in the annual Goldfields League Pairs final last weekend in a precursor to the pennants grand final. After leading most of the way, the Boulder pair of Roger Pascoe and Josh Beddow prevailed over Doug Milne and Gavan Dixon, 12 shots to nine. With three ends to go, the Kalgoorlie pair showed great fighting spirit and closed to within two shots but Pascoe and Beddow extended the lead to four with only one end to go. The eight rounds of pennants this season has seen Kalgoorlie generally on top, which is why they are hosting the grand final, but some of the scores have belied just how close the games have been. Kalgoorlie’s skippers are evergreen Reg Arthur, John Bowler, Steve Hill, John Jarvis, Joe Kennedy and Barry Pascoe, while the Boulder teams will be led by Beddow, Jamie Hooper, Jordie Menzies, Pascoe, Louie Trow and Andrew Watson.
