Public invited to learn more at workshop Kirkwood Highway, a four-to-six lane road stretching between Wilmington and Newark, often feels like a challenge to navigate. Whether driving or walking, the high-speed traffic and dangerous crossings create a risky situation for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians alike. But change is on the horizon. For over a year, transportation officials worked with stakeholders to develop a plan to reimagine the busy thoroughfare into one that combines land use and transportation, promoting future residential and economic development along the 8.3-mile corridor. The Wilmington Area Planning Council will present final recommendations for the Kirkwood Highway Corridor Land Use and Transportation Plan during a public workshop on Monday, Feb. 24. The event will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Cranston Heights Fire Company Memorial Hall, 3306 Kirkwood Highway, Prices Corner.
