Marvel Rivals Not Introducing the Only 2 MCU Heroes That Can Mean a Full Guardians of the Galaxy Team Is Criminal

Marvel Rivals has been absolutely crushing it with character releases since its December launch. NetEase’s hero shooter keeps expanding its roster faster than Star-Lord can come up with questionable dance moves, and today’s Season 1.5 update proves they know exactly what they’re doing with the Fantastic Four.

But while we’re celebrating the arrival of new heroes, there’s an elephant in the room that’s becoming harder to ignore than Drax standing perfectly still. The Guardians of the Galaxy roster in Marvel Rivals feels like watching an MCU movie with two of the main characters digitally removed—and it’s not just about missing familiar faces.

What makes this particularly frustrating isn’t just about nostalgia or fan service. It’s about missing out on what could be one of the most perfectly balanced team compositions in the entire game. And no, we’re not talking Thanos-level balance here.

The missing Guardians could complete Marvel Rivals‘ perfect team

When it comes to team composition in Marvel Rivals, few lineups could be as perfectly balanced as a complete Guardians roster. Right now, we’ve got Star-Lord bringing the firepower, Groot holding the frontline, and both Mantis and Rocket keeping everyone alive with their healing abilities.

The current Guardian Revival team-up between Star-Lord, Mantis, and Adam Warlock is already powerful enough, letting them self-revive in crucial moments. But imagine the possibilities if we had the full roster at our disposal:

The potential for Gamora and Drax isn’t just about completing the roster—it’s about perfect team balance. With Drax as a second Vanguard alongside Groot, and Gamora joining Star-Lord in the Duelist role, we’d have a team composition that could actually dominate the meta.

And let’s be honest, the voice lines alone would be worth it:

While NetEase seems to be hinting at their eventual arrival through Star-Lord’s pre-match

with ****** Panther, where he mentions searching for his missing family members, we’re left wondering just how long we’ll have to wait.

The Fantastic Four shows us what could be!

Speaking of family reunions, today’s Season 1.5 update finally brings us a complete Fantastic Four roster with the addition of Human Torch and The Thing. NetEase has absolutely nailed their implementation, from Johnny’s devastating fire tornados to Ben’s unmovable Unyielding Will passive.

The Thing’s arrival in particular shows us just how much thought goes into each hero’s kit. His ability to create zones that prevent mobility perfectly captures the essence of being that immovable object your team needs. Meanwhile, Human Torch’s Omega Fire team-up with Storm proves that NetEase knows exactly how to make these character interactions feel both powerful and true to the comics.

While Marvel’s First Family now stands complete as a four-person squad, they still need two more heroes to fill out a full Marvel Rivals team. But at least they’re bringing a balanced composition to the table—one Tank, two Duelists, and one Strategist.

That’s already leagues ahead of running a full OG Avengers lineup, which would have you charging in with three Tanks and three Duelists, practically gift-wrapping one “Ace!” after the other for the enemy team.
