Price of Glory launches major 1.4 update, taking it from 2D to 3D

Turn-based strategy and HOMM-like Price of Glory is set to receive a major overhaul as part of its 1.4 update. Revamping graphical effects and the introduction for new players, it’s available to download for free right now. What’s included? Let’s dig in and find out!

To start, there’s the graphical overhaul. Those of you unable to get immersed in the admittedly visually pleasing 2D art can now enjoy 3D effects placed across landscapes, characters and buildings. While not quite the same as full 3D it still adds a nice amount of depth to this turn-based strategy.

Meanwhile, if there’s anything you could say about the Heroes of Might & Magic-like (HOMM-like) genre, it’s that it can be confusing for new players. But, fortunately, a new tutorial system in Price of Glory ensures that no one’s getting left out! This so-called Guided Sandbox can take you through all the basics and more.

Visual concessions

While the changes to Price of Glory’s graphics aren’t exactly major I’m sure there are some of you out there who’ll be swung into giving it a try. 2D graphics may be accepted amongst most players, but I know there are plenty who are still put off by anything that falls short of their preferred visual style.

I think what’s even more of a game-changer here, however, is that of the Guided Sandbox tutorial. Mixing Heroes-style strategy, base defence and all manner of distinct abilities can be confusing at best. So a good tutorial is sure to help out those of you who’ve bounced off Price of Glory.
