LOUIS –The annual Annie Malone May Day Parade, known as the second largest African American parade in the country, announced on Tuesday its 2025 parade scheduled has been canceled. The St. Louis tradition that has marked the city for 115 years was originally scheduled for May 18, but according to Annie Malone Children & Family Services, it was canceled due to growing economic challenges. How much more snow is St. Louis getting? The organization said in a statement that funds raised from the parade directly support programs providing shelter, mental health services, and economic mobility for children and families facing crises in St. Louis. “This parade is woven into the fabric of St. Louis—it’s a celebration of our history, our resilience, and our unwavering commitment to each other,” said CEO Keisha Lee in a news release. “But right now, we have families who can’t afford their next meal or a safe place to sleep. We have to make the difficult decision to put their needs first and ensure we are directing as many resources as possible toward providing real, life-changing support.” The parade is calling for sponsors to help with their parade come 2026.
