However, one gamer has come across a brand-new hidden reference after zooming in on Bruce Banner’s gun.

Marvel Rival player finds a strange detail with Hulk’s Bruce Banner

On Marvel Rivals‘ official subreddit, a Redditor recently shared a zoomed-in picture of Bruce Banner’s gun. He uses a Gamma Ray Gun that ends up dealing 16 damage when he isn’t bashing around his enemies as Hulk in the game.

If you look carefully at the zoomed-in picture, you’ll notice bright green trees, a building, and a parking lot. Beyond the central picture, the six smaller ones that are distorted encircle the gun, while the other half has more bright green boxes that don’t look out of place.

What could this image mean? Some gamers believe that Epic Games’ headquarters is in Raleigh, North Carolina. However, according to the top response on the post, the parking lot image is basically being used as a cube map. This would allow the Gamma Ray Gun to be more reflective in the game.

Cubemaps are often used in games to save processor power for other things in the game while still delivering realistic-looking reflections. As another user has pointed out, it’s a fairly common image as it’s the default HDRI that’s used by Unreal Engine, giving gamers a sneak peek at some behind-the-scenes game development.

Wu acknowledged that there’s a desire among gamers for a PvE mode and stated that a “hardcore” PvE experience would be completely different from Marvel Rivals, as it is right now.

Just like Marvel Rivals, most of the hero-shooters don’t feature a single-player campaign mode. Even Blizzard had to cancel its plans to bring a PvE mode in Overwatch 2. It’s quite a challenge to craft a PvE experience as it needs a different route to design compared to a team-based game.

However, gamers can still hope to see a PvE mode in Marvel Rivals at some point. Wu also suggested that the developers are constantly experimenting with new gameplay approaches that can work with the game.
