Is the Fallout 4 High Resolution Texture Pack Worth It?

Playing on PC usually means you get the best of everything. You can download high-quality mods for your favorite games, tweak performance and graphics settings, and download free content meant to improve the overall experience. But does this one do that? Is the Fallout 4 High Resolution Texture Pack worth your time and energy?

Despite the marketing material clearly stating this texture pack provides “ultra-deluxe detail” to the Fallout 4 wasteland, which sounds enticing, especially to new players, it’s not worth your time. The massive pack weighs nearly 60 GB of precious hard drive space, and the graphical improvements prove minor overall. It doesn’t help with performance, either. You’re better off using mods for Fallout 4 instead!

If you want to improve and adjust the graphics in Fallout 4, a few high-quality alternatives to the High Resolution Texture Pack include:

• Vogue ENB
• Reactor ENB
• Visceral ENB
• Vivid ENB
• Ghost ENB for NAC
• Dawn ENB

I’m a huge fan of Dawn ENB, but everyone will have a preference. You can find all these graphical overhaul mods available to download completely free on Nexus Mods. However, they may require a few tweaks to work correctly, so read the instructions carefully!

You will require a beefy system to run the High Resolution Texture Pack in Fallout 4. It requires:

• Processor: Intel Core i7-5820K or better
• Memory: 8 GB RAM
• Graphics: GTX 1080 8 GB
• Storage: 58 GB

That’s 58 GB of additional space on top of the main game and other expansions and DLC. It’ll bring Fallout 4 up to nearly 100 GB on your hard drive!

When Bethesda launched the Fallout 4 High Resolution Texture Pack on Steam, it did so without charging a single dime. We’re thankful for that. However, the overall performance drop and the lack of high-fidelity graphics from a texture pack meant to improve visuals mean it’s not worth your time to download this free DLC.
