When they found the drugs, the unit was following up on an investigation after the Greenville Regional Drug Task Force had made an arrest in January in Pitt County, North Carolina, which is around 85 miles southeast of Raleigh, North Carolina.

The unit was deployed to Pantego, North Carolina, 50 miles east of Pitt County, where they found the narcotics hidden in “several pallets of stone landscape pavers,” according to the sheriff’s office.

K-9s trained to indicate the presence of ******** narcotics were deployed to the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.

The dogs indicated that drugs were present in the pallets, and police found one of pavers, which was shaped like a hexagon, contained a circular container hidden inside that contained 800 grams of methamphetamine.

An investigation led to the seizure of 148 pounds of crystal methamphetamine found encased in stone landscape pavers, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina.

In total, police found 84 stone pavers that each contained 800 grams of the substance, according to the statement.

The Greenville Regional Drug Task Force, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Raleigh, North Carolina, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, and other support agencies are investigating the case.

The investigation remains ongoing.
