Hearthstone has kicked off the Year of the Raptor with a myriad of new content

• New Core Set upgrade with returning cards, balance changes, and new additions
• Two Seasonal Championships and a World Championship will be held this year

The Year of the Raptor has arrived in Hearthstone, bringing a fresh expansion cycle, a Core Set update, and the return of esports. The first expansion of the year, Into the Emerald Dream, is set to launch soon, with a special event leading up to its release. You can also look forward to a new Year of the Raptor board with refreshed visual and audio systems. 

This year’s Core Set update in Hearthstone introduces a mix of returning cards, balance changes, and a few brand-new additions. To refine the experience, some cards with burst damage and other frustrating effects have been removed. More details on the update will be shared closer to its release.

Competitive play is also making a return, with two Seasonal Championships and a World Championship forming the backbone of Hearthstone Esports in 2025. Partnering with Netease Thunderfire, the program will feature at least $600,000 in prizes, aiming to bring more players into the competitive scene. Additional details on the format and ruleset will be announced soon.

Looking ahead, a major Arena update is planned for Patch 32.2, launching after Into the Emerald Dream. While details are still under wraps, this update is expected to refine the drafting experience and offer a fresh approach to the mode. The patch will also bring a Battlegrounds Seasonal Update and the Into the Emerald Dream Mini-Set, which will arrive one patch earlier than usual.
