Kylie Minogue fans gather at Perth’s RAC Arena for world launch of Tension Tour

The Princess of Pop is debuting her world tour at RAC Arena and fans just can’t get her out of their heads.

Crowds gathered outside the arena hours before the 56-year-old made her long-anticipated return to WA, launching her Tension Tour on Saturday night.

At the front of the line was Perth local Kevin Winder — who was seeing the pop megastar for the 45th time.

“I was at Hyde Park in London not too long ago to see that gig and saw her at World Pride in Sydney, and then tonight is going to be spectacular,” he said.

Mr Winder, who has been a fan since Kylie played Charlene Mitchell on Neighbours, wore a jacket bearing a photo of him and Kylie hugging at a meet and greet.

He was looking forward to making even more memories on Saturday with his friends and his 13-year-old niece Emily.

“Those times where our (Kylie and I’s) worlds collide, these are some of the most special moments of my life,” he said.

Emily claimed to be an ever ******* fan than her uncle and was looking forward to hearing the song Edge of Saturday Night, featuring Madonna.

Friends Lara Sadowski, Leanne Wilson and Tania Farrell flew down from Geraldton for the concert, glittery outfits at the ready.

“She is an icon, she is from our era, she gets our style,” Ms Farrell said.

Doors at RAC Arena open at 6.45pm, with supporting artist Mallrat scheduled on at 7.45pm.

Kylie is due to take the stage at 8.45pm for just under two hours.

Jolene Whibley, 27, said she grew to love the Can’t Get You Out Of My Head singer through her mum.

“My mum’s a really huge Kylie fan, so I’ve grown up with her albums being played at home all the time,” she said.

“I’m here with my mum, so to be able to see her is really special, especially with mum here in person.

“I love the divas when they tour, they always give the best shows … I think it is going to feel like a big party rather than a concert.

“Growing up listening to her, I hope we have a lot of the old stuff as well as some new stuff.”

The popstar hasn’t played in Perth since 2019.

Her recent projects mark her eighth and ninth chart-topping ARIA albums, punctuated by the anthemic hit Padam Padam, which won her a Grammy for best pop dance recording in 2023.

After Perth she will head to Adelaide, before performing the show at least 70 more times before wrapping up the tour in August, closing out in Mexico.
