GFL women’s program to be expanded to all-girls divisions in 2025

Goldfields Football League officials will expand the region’s successful women’s program in 2025 to include two all-girls competitions.

Registrations have opened for free Year 3-4 and Year 7-10, or youth, competitions this year and are available to new and returning players.

The popularity of women’s and girls’ football has grown exponentially since the GFLW was launched in 2021 with teams from Kalgoorlie, Boulder and Mines Rovers.

Railways entered in 2022, followed by Kambalda in 2023.

Expressions of interest among junior girls in the region last season followed a highly successful GFL Youth Girls Program.

Sessions took place across nine weeks and attracted between 22 and 32 players, culminating in June with an exhibition match.

Last season, Railways’ Marley Kelman, at just 15 years of age, was crowned the GFL’s women’s fairest-and-best player.
