Two Cass County deputies were dispatched to a Galveston home at 1:38 a.m. Thursday to look into an alleged burglary on the 300 block of East Griffith Street. According to a press release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Department, the homeowner was just getting home from work when they noticed footprints in the fresh snow that led to their garage and home. Heading inside, they realized several items were missing and found their former girlfriend, Christina Muncey, hiding behind a sofa. She left before the deputies arrived, according to the press release. After meeting with the homeowner, the deputies found several tracks of footprints entering and exiting the home. They appeared to come from the same shoe style and originated from a neighboring house just across the street. Nobody answered the door when the deputies tried to contact the neighbor, according to the press release. They instead obtained a search warrant from an on-call prosecutor and judge to enter the residence. The warrant was served without incident and several stolen items were recovered. The suspect, Muncey, was arrested and brought to Cass County Detention Center for a level 6 felony charge of Possession of Methamphetamine; a level 6 felony charge of Possession of Heroin; a level 6 felony charge of Possession of Syringe; a level 4 felony charge of Burglary of a Dwelling; a level 6 felony charge of Residential Entry; a class A misdemeanor charge of Invasion of Privacy; a class C misdemeanor charge of Possession of Paraphernalia. She also had two Failure to Appear Body warrants. The Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the burglary and has asked anyone with additional information to reach out at 574-753-7800.
