Snow remains in the forecast for Thursday, although the chance dips to 40%, the forecast showed.

Friday afternoon, the NWS updated the chance of what could fall Wednesday and Thursday to “rain and snow showers.”

“It’s a little too early to say for certain” what will fall in Charlotte and how much, NWS meteorologist Thomas Winesett told The Charlotte Observer on Friday morning.

While the chance of some form of precipitation stands at 50% late Wednesday and early Thursday and 40% during the day on Thursday, forecasters are keeping their prediction of a wintry mix at a low 20% to 30% for now, he said.

Despite that low prediction, some weather models already show snow in the forecast, Winesett said

The weather models could shift either way in coming days, to either all rain or a wintry mix, he said. The forecast for mid-week should become more certain on Monday, he said.

One thing is for certain: Keeping your winter coat out, with respective highs of 41 and 39 forecast on Wednesday and Thursday.
