Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog is notable as one of the first high-profile adaptations of a ***** game, capitalizing on the character’s popularity in North America. The series stars Jaleel White–best known for playing Urkel in the sitcom Family Matters–as the voice of Sonic, and features a long list of familiar sidekicks and villains, including Tails (Russi Taylor) and Dr. Robotnik (Long John Baldry). While subsequent TV shows, comics, and movies have filled Sonic’s backstory even more, back in the ’90s, this show gave fans their first look into the Sonic universe beyond the video games.
