FC25 players can now claim this free Icon card

EA Sports has announced that every EA FC player who plays the game in the next month will receive a free Diego Maradona item, marking his return to the series.

Maradona was pulled from what was then known as the FIFA series back in March 2022, following a legal dispute.

Now, the legendary Argentine player is back in the game, debuting during the Grassroot Greats promo, which will take place over the next two weeks. To celebrate this, EA is giving every player who logs into the game over the next month a free Maradona item which can be evolved.

While it won’t be as highly rated as the top-tier Maradona item that’s being added to packs, this card will be one of the highest-rated cards ever given away by EA in this manner.

“Inspired by Maradona’s rise from Argentinos Juniors at the age of 14 to a global superstar and serial winner with Napoli, Diego’s Dream Evolution allows players to upgrade Maradona through three separate Evolution paths,” reads a description for the in-game event.

“Beginning at a humble 77 OVR, marking 16-year-old Diego’s groundbreaking international debut against Hungary in 1977, upgrade Maradona to a mighty 89 OVR as you follow his career all the way to the 1989 UEFA Cup final when the Argentinian captained Napoli to glory over two tough legs against Stuttgart.”

A further evolution will also be made available, however, this evolution won’t be free and will require either FC Points, or in-game coins.
