The game has since been one of the most popular titles in the genre, and its recently released Early Access sequel is one of the most-played games on Steam right now. Despite this, GGG has continued to add content to the first game. And the developers might be surprised to learn that the majority of the players don’t like it at all. Why? Well, you won’t be surprised by the reason. Path of Exile got an update but no one likes it This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up PoE 2, we don’t want it. | Image Credit: Grinding Gear Games One of the biggest changes in the Legacy of Phrecia event is how it alters endgame progression. Instead of allowing players to manually specialize in different league mechanics through the Atlas Passive Skill Tree, the new system will have random item drops that determine what content players can engage with. And the early response from the community has been…mixed. The Legacy of Phrecia event in Path of Exile 1 will feature a new system for specialising in endgame content, replacing the existing Atlas Passive Skill Tree. Check out the details in today’s news post! What if there are players who like specific league mechanics like Delirium or Expedition? It’s just gonna make it harder and gating things behind RNG has never been something that players are fond of. One Redditor summed it up perfectly by saying, “This ***** better drop like candy or else the early progression will be super tedious.” Another user sarcastically noted that “we are definitely beta testing poe2 endgame,” suggesting that GGG is using the Legacy of Phrecia event as a testing ground for potential PoE 2 endgame mechanics. Path of Exile 2‘s success doesn’t need a hindrance This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up 2 is a massive hit so the devs better not pull some risky stuff. | Image Credit: Grinding Gear Games Legacy of Phrecia is only a temporary event, but the results here could extend far beyond its limited runtime. If GGG considers this experiment successful, it could affect the development of PoE 2’s endgame structure. It’s already known that Path of Exile already has one of the best endgame systems in the genre, and adding RNG-heavy mechanics to it probably isn’t the best move. The sequel’s approach to combat and build diversity has been praised, but its endgame economy and item scarcity have already been criticized. If GGG takes this new Legacy of Phrecia to the sequel then we might be looking at some very unhappy fans. Since launching into early access on December 6, Path of Exile 2 has gotten over half a million concurrent players, making it one of the most-played games on Steam. And much like the popular Marvel Rivals, we’ve also seen that PoE 2 has also had an excellent player retention rate after its first month. And all that is while the game is still in Early Access.
