Rain and a winter mix are moving through the area this evening and a few thunderstorms are possible.

Freezing rain will bring icy conditions for areas under the alerts however higher impact locations will be for those north of Pittsburgh and east in the higher elevations. Light ice accumulation is possible around the city mostly on elevated surfaces. Areas around RT 422 will likely see freezing rain for a couple of hours this evening producing icy conditions and hazardous travel. Snow and a wintry mix up along I-80 and north, expect slick and icy travel as well tonight. Those areas will have the higher travel impacts north of Pittsburgh where up to a tenth of an inch of ice is possible.

The highest icy impacts will be east in the ridges and mountains where up to a quarter inch of ice is possible. Rain around the city and south will be steadiest early this evening, thunder and small hail can’t be ruled out in isolated spots. The bulk of this system will exit by 10 p.m. on Saturday evening.
