There are many different factions in the game, ranging from the Terminids and Automatons to the latest threat, the Illuminate, which originally appeared in the first Helldivers title. While super soldiers might have the firepower to get rid of them all, given recent developments, many players seem to believe in the ‘prevention is better than cure’ philosophy instead.

2 players are preparing for an attack against the Illuminate | Arrowhead Studios

Out of the hundreds of planets that Super Earth’s soldiers go and fight on, there is one called the Meridia, and it is possibly about to be under attack soon with a wormhole opening up beside it.

Helldivers 2’s official subreddit has users anticipating an attack from the Illuminates. However, considering that the wormhole reveals their plan of attack early, players are taking different measures to make sure their nemesis cannot even make an appearance. These different tactics include parking your ship just outside the wormhole to form a ‘super blockade.’

At the very start, protecting democracy stayed a thing to be protected from the different threats of the Super Earth. Unfortunately, ever since a bad streak of bad decisions made by the publishing studio behind the game, the players have been forced to fight back more than just pesky bugs.

In May of last year, just when Helldivers 2 was at its peak, Sony decided to introduce a mandate that would require every Helldiver on PC to make a PSN account and link it to their Steam profile if they wished to continue playing. While the decision was taken back after massive backlash, access to the game was taken away from thousands of players where the service was not available.

Fortunately, the list of wins against Sony extends longer than one expects. This includes the studios’ recent decision to make the PSN mandate optional for more PlayStation titles on PC, including God of War Ragnarok, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, The Last of Us II, and more.
