The units in question were manufactured in Mexico and Korea before being imported to the United States via LG Electronics USA Inc. in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. They were sold at Best Buy, Costco, The Home Depot, Lowe’s and other appliance stores nationwide and online.

The label reminds consumers to use the Lock Out/Control Lock function on the range control panel to disable activation of the heating elements while the range is not in use. Those who have one of these models at home are cautioned to keep children and pets away from the knobs, and to check the range periodically in order to ensure the knobs are, in fact, turned off before leaving home or going to bed. LG also encouraged users not to leave objects on the range while it is not in use. Depending on the model, these ranges are said to have been sold from 2015 through January 2025 for anywhere between $1,400 and $2,650.

So far, the CPSC has received around 86 reports of unintentional activation of the front-mounted knobs. The LG ranges identified in the recall have also been responsible for more than 28 fires, with at least five fires leading to extensive property damage totaling over $340,000. There have been at least eight minor injuries reported, including burns, and three reports of fires that resulted in the unfortunate death of pets.
