Capcom has been trying to make multiplayer Resident Evil work for more than 20 years now. It started in 2003 with RE Outbreak - flawed and fussy, that first attempt remains, weirdly, the most convincing co-op Resident Evil game in history. Operation Raccoon City wasn't very good at all. After that it was RE Resistance, and then Resident Evil ReVerse. Every game puts a different spin on multiplayer survival horror, but none of them, despite Capcom's best efforts, has ever taken off. Maybe a good multiplayer Resident Evil could still happen, but for now, ReVerse, originally launched alongside Village, is done for - the worst-rated RE game on Steam, it's being shut down and pulled from *****.
