See list In the Jackson area, two restaurants received a failing health inspection grade in January, according to the Mississippi State Department of Health. As of Feb. 5, both facilities had conducted follow-up inspections and had rectified the failing grade. Below are the restaurants and food service facilities in District V, including Hinds, Madison and Rankin counties, that received a failing grade of “C.” Madison County Rib Daddy’s BBQ, located at 1428 West Peace St. in Canton, failed a permit health inspection on Jan. 14. The inspection notes a lack of a certified manager and a lack of adequate hand washing facilities. On Feb. 3, the restaurant passed a follow-up inspection and earned a B rating. Before this inspection, Rib Daddy’s BBQ had received one other failing grade in Nov. 2023, also for a lack of adequate hand washing facilities. This 2023 failing grade was then rectified the next week during a follow-up inspection. Rankin County Waffle House, located at 5452 Highway 25 in Flowood, received a failing grade during a scheduled health inspection on Jan. 13. The inspection notes a lack of a certified manager. On Jan. 22, the restaurant passed a corrective follow-up inspection and earned a B rating. Before this failing grade, this Waffle House location had failed three other inspections since 2008, all of which were rectified during follow-up inspections. The MSDH website states the following regarding the grading scale: A rating: “The facility inspection found no critical violations. Critical violations of the state Food Code are those more likely to lead to food contamination, illness, or other health risk.” B rating: “Critical violations were found, but corrected under the supervision of the inspecting environmentalist. No further corrective actions are required.” C rating: “Critical violations were found, but some or all were not corrected during the inspection. The facility will be re-inspected, and all violations must be corrected in a time ******* not to exceed 10 days. The re-inspection date is posted on the graded report. If violations are not corrected in the specified time, steps are taken to suspend the facility’s permit to operate. A grade of C is also given if critical violations are repeated from the last inspection, even if they were corrected at that time.” Craving King Cake?
