Warframe: 1999’s Techrot Encore update sees you taking On-Lyne Off-Lyne, coming soon

• Warframe: 1999 is set to receive a new update, with bosses, weapons and more
• Boy-band On-Lyne debut in their mutated form as the Technocyte Coda
• There’s new weapons, and four new Protoframes, as well as the debut of the 60th Warframe!

Warframe: 1999 and its Y2K-infused action is set to receive a fresh update this March. As revealed over on one of the many official Digital Extremes devstreams, Techrot Encore brings the 60th Warframe Temple to the roster, four new Protoframes and a whole lot more! And more than that, there are old friends you’re going to meet and slay.

That’s because Techrot Encore sees the newest addition to the Lich adversary system with the Technocyte Coda, better known as the boy band On-Lyne. If you don’t recognise them, On-Lyne were frequent stars in the ARG leading up to Warframe: 1999’s release, but these loveable non-threatening boys have traded in their star power for killing power.

Fortunately, you’ll have plenty of new equipment to help you out. Four new Scaldra weapons give you many more options for blasting your way through any firefight (or slashing). Meanwhile, there are new changes to the Romance & Relationships system for all you lovebirds out there, a new Gyre Deluxe cosmetic skin and the aforementioned Protoframes and Warframe.

Y2K is real!

I think it’s safe to say that I’m not the only one charmed by the weird turn-of-the-century aesthetic that Warframe: 1999 boasts. And if there’s anything more out there than “boy-band turned into cybernetic monstrosities” as far as enemies go, then I don’t want to hear about it.

Of course, even in the build-up to this new update releasing in March, there’s plenty more to experience. Starting February 6th there’s the return of the Clan Operation: Belly of the Beast, new skins and Nightwave Vol. 8 for even more rewards.
