Alone in the Dark Developer Pieces Interactive Lays Off Employees

A month after launch Alone in the Dark, developer Pieces Interactive is laying off employees. It’s unclear how many people have been let go.

Right now Hansen ******** the only person to confirm the layoffs, however she did specifically mention “coworkers” signally a larger layoff at the company. Pieces Interactive is based in Sweden and owned by Embracer Group. On Monday, it was announced that Embracer Group was set to split into three separate companies.

Alone in the Dark released on March 20 to mixed reviews. Of his experience with the game, Insider Gaming’s Grant Taylor-Hill said that despite enjoying “just enough” of the game, “I don’t feel I can reliably advocate for buying Alone in the Dark at full price, though. It’s not terrible, but there’s just something lacking that doesn’t allow the player to experience satisfaction at any point throughout the story.”

Insider Gaming has reached out to Pieces Interactive and THQ Nordic for comment on the layoffs. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
