Three Perth suburbs saw a wave of anti-Jewish graffiti at the weekend, including a Nazi swastika and the words “f… Jews” sprayed onto a brick wall on a home along Viking Road in Dalkeith. Just a few hundred metres away on the same affluent street, a For ***** sign was tagged with the words “WA Labor nazis”. Similar anti-Semitic graffiti occured at a property in Langford as well as on a campaign sign for Labor’ Mt Lawley candidate, Frank Paolino. Roger Cook on Monday said he would leave it up police to determine the motivations, but vowed authorities would “stop at nothing” to bring the perpetrators to justice. The Premier said some of the incidents may be because of “young thugs” copying what they have seen reported on “east coast media”, who might be trying to “get a rise” and “some attention”. “Others are motivated by much more sinister intent, and the WA Police are right on top of this matter,” Mr Cook said. “This is an alarming spike over a 24 to 48 hour *******, but we know that the police security intelligence unit, are on top of this. WA Liberal leader Libby Mettam said any anti-semitic incident was “abhorrent”. “They are vile, and (those responsible) must feel the full force of the law,” she said.
