It’s clear that Marvel Rivals is here to stay and is Overwatch 2‘s worst nightmare. However, if the NetEase Games’ title really wants to be the king of the hero-shooter genre, it must fix four critical technical errors that are plaguing the game and forcing the players to flock to competition.

Marvel Rivals is suffering from horrendous technical issues

While NetEase Games has definitely nailed the gameplay and features side of Marvel Rivals, the studio has fumbled a lot when it comes to the game’s technical performance and bugs. It’s not as bad as something you’ll expect from Bethesda and Todd Howard, though.

The first major issue with Marvel Rivals is the game’s frame rate dependency, which ends up affecting character abilities and movement mechanics. For instance, Doctor Strange’s aerial ability is directly linked to the game’s frames, which means that players with 30 FPS or even lower won’t be able to perfectly execute moves against enemies.

Marvel Rivals has added tons of content through various patches. However, that’s where the second issue comes in; all of these patches have led to connectivity issues, with players reporting game crashes and pre-match disconnections that lead to harsh penalties. Gamers are dealing with longer loading times and random in-game freezes that ruin the momentum of their matches.

The third issue with Marvel Rivals is that it forces mouse acceleration by default, something that even Overwatch 2 doesn’t dare to do. Due to this, gamers feel their aiming precision gets messed up, especially during fast-paced combat. For some odd reason, the hero-shooter lacks an in-game toggle to disable acceleration.

The worst issue in Rivals currently is undoubtedly the FPS drops. Updates are supposed to improve performance, but somehow, they’ve done the exact opposite for Rivals. All of the recent updates have led to FPS dips, memory leaks, and unoptimized textures, even on high-end systems.

While NetEase Games has given players tons of things to experience in Marvel Rivals, gamers want more, and now they’re looking at Overwatch‘s Mystery Heroes mode.

Over on the game’s official subreddit, many in the community believe such a mode could make Rivals even more exciting. If you’re unaware, in Mystery Heroes mode, gamers skip character selection altogether, and they’re randomly given different heroes to control.

What’s even better about Mystery Heroes mode is that once a player-controlled hero dies, the game once again rolls the dice and assigns them a new hero to play. This ensures that new heroes are coming in and out of the battlefield.

Let’s hope NetEase Games can take a look at the game’s technical problems and even consider adding the Overwatch mode to win the hearts of gamers.
