Fall River firefighter from Taunton risks losing lower leg without surgery; GoFundMe set up

James Dow, a dedicated Fall River firefighter and Taunton resident, has spent the last 20 years helping others.

Now, he finds himself in need of help.

Dow, 41, suffered a severe injury to his left foot and ankle, which has kept him out of work for over a year.

His talus bone (ankle bone), which was reattached, has developed necrosis. If not treated soon, he risks losing his left leg below the knee.

Former Freetown-Lakeville superintendent sends second $1M demand letter — singling out 3 Freetown officials

Former Freetown-Lakeville Superintendent of Schools Alan Strauss has sent a demand letter to the town of Freetown accusing three town officials — Town Administrator Deborah Pettey, Finance Committee member Margaret French, and Selectman Carlos Lopes — of defamation.
