Hazmat warning: Fire at Maddington car manufacturing facility causing potentially toxic fumes

People have been urged to avoid parts of Maddington as a result of a blaze at a vehicle manufacturing facility causing potentially toxic fumes.

Firefighters are working to put out a fire which started at a vehicle manufacturing facility on Kelvin Road in Maddington just before 3.30pm on Sunday.

The fire is causing potentially dangerous smoke blowing south of Kelvin Road and the surrounding areas of Maddington.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services have urged people in the area to remain inside with doors and windows closed.

Kelvin Road is not closed but motorists have been asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully.
