Canada’s Trudeau threatens ‘immediate response’ to planned US tariffs

********* Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has threatened a “forceful and immediate response” if the United States goes ahead with a 25% tariff on ********* goods set to take effect on Saturday.

“No one – on either side of the border- wants to see American tariffs on ********* goods,” Trudeau wrote on X on Friday.

“I met with our Canada-U.S. Council today. We’re working hard to prevent these tariffs, but if the United States moves ahead, Canada’s ready with a forceful and immediate response,” Trudeau said.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed on Friday that 25% duties on goods from Canada and Mexico are to take effect on Saturday, along with a 10% tariff on ******** products.
