Techland is planning ‘multiple unannounced’ Dying Light projects

Techland has teased plans to release a number of unannounced Dying Light projects.

The Polish studio spoke about its plans for the zombie series in a press release marking its tenth anniversary.

It claimed that the franchise has reached 45 million players since the original game was released in January 2015.

Dying Light players have racked up 67 billion zombie kills and over one billion hours of playtime, according to Techland.

The original game was followed by 2022’s Dying Light 2: Stay Human, while Dying Light: The Beast is scheduled for release this summer.

“And our plans to grow the franchise don’t stop at Dying Light: The Beast,” Techland said. “We’ll continue the series with multiple unannounced projects and will also go beyond video games with new board games, exclusive merchandise, original webcomic series and more on the horizon.”

The original Dying Light and its sequel will also receive free updates “very soon”.

A patch for the first game will reintroduce events, add new rewards, improve the visual quality and deliver a remastered soundtrack with new music from the original composer.

Dying Light 2 will receive more prologue changes and the permanent release of co-op focused roguelite mode Tower Raid.

Announced last August, Dying Light: The Beast was originally planned as story DLC for Dying Light 2, “but after two years of work, its size and scope has changed so much that it evolved into a standalone, self-contained experience,” according to Techland.

Taking around 18 hours to complete, its plot revolves around Kyle Crane, the undercover agent who was the main protagonist in the first Dying Light.
