A Met Office alert for heavy rain began at midday Sunday and remains in place until the end of Monday.

More than 700 homes were without power in south and west Wales on Sunday afternoon.

On Monday morning, Natural Resources Wales (NRW) issued 15 flood alerts across Wales.

caused disruption on Friday and Saturday, including multiple power cuts and gusts of up to 93mph (159km/h).

The Met Office said: “Periods of heavy rain could eventually lead to some flooding of roads and properties.

“Spells of heavy rain are likely to affect parts of Wales during Sunday, followed by further showers or longer spells of rain during Monday.”

It warned up to 40mm (1.6in) of rainfall was widely likely, with isolated totals of up to 70mm (2.8in) mostly likely over high ground.

A wind warning is in place from 06:00 on Monday until 06:00 on Tuesday across across a large swathe of the country excluding Anglesey, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham.

The National Grid said, as of 14:30 on Sunday, it had 13 power cuts, affecting about 773 homes.

The worst affected areas were Merlin’s Bridge in Pembrokeshire, Splott in Cardiff, and Aberporth in Ceredigion.
