Power outages: Thousands across Mullaloo, Dalwallinu, Ledge Point still without electricity

Thousands of Western *********** residents remain without power on Monday following weather-related outages sparked on Friday and Saturday.

During the peak of the outage on Saturday 38,000 homes were without power, as of Monday morning 34,000 have had power restored leaving around 4000 still without power.

The areas which remain the worst impacted are Balga, Mullaloo, Dalwallinu, Ledge Point and Dandaragan.

Most outages began early on Saturday but for some in Mullaloo, their power has been out since late Friday night.

According to Western Power, many of the outages were due to a mix of infrastructure damage caused by pole top fires, drop out fuse trips, and bushfires.

A spokesperson for Western Power said all available crews had been mobilised to assist with repairs.

“Following works today (Monday), we anticipate a lot of these customers to be restored by this evening,” they said.

“Due to the volume of incidents and complex repair work required in some areas, there may be some customers across the network who remain without power again overnight.

“We also have helicopters patrolling in the Midwest to help our crews find faults quicker and speed up restoration times.”

The spokesperson said impacted residents were being kept in the loop and once power is restored could .

“Impacted customers are being contacted directly via SMS. Restoration time updates will also be made available on the Western Power Outages page as soon as they are known,” they said.
