BLJ Games has officially launched BLJ Bombones, the studio’s charming pixel-art platformer set in a colourful candy factory. There’s nothing worse than having a sweets shop overrun by ****** pests, so it’s up to you and your Bonbons to find a way to escape.

In BLJ Bombones, you’ll leap through sinfully sweet stages and dodge spiders and insects that have taken over the confectionery. There are five areas to navigate, and it seems each one will have its own distinct look and set of challenges to take on. 

What makes it interesting, in my opinion, is the fact that you can apparently get doused and dusted with sugar along the way to get a quirky new look – as for whether or not this has any actual effect on platforming powers, I suppose we’ll just have to play it to find out. But if it doesn’t do anything but give you a literally and figuratively sweet new look, I guess that’s totally fine too!

Based on the trailer, there’s also a stage where you can swim in chocolate while a bunch of ice-cream-looking enemies blast candy ****** at you – and who doesn’t want to swim in chocolate, really? All these come with a lovely soundtrack bopping retro beats in the background, so it feels like it’s going to be a lovely pick-me-up when days are particularly bleak.
