Community mourning woman with special needs killed in Upper St. Clair house fire

This Sunday’s service at The ****** Chapel in McMurray will be different than most weekends — when members would see Meredith Miller sitting with her parents.

“She was just a staple of our church. If you went to church on Sunday’s, you saw her with her parents,” Audrey Conley told Channel 11.

“[Her parents] were so protective of Meredith. They did so much for her, and are definitely an example of parents that spurred on their child with special needs,” she added.

Meredith also worked with the church’s vacation ****** school, Children’s ministry and pre-school.

“She just had a ********** to her, a gentleness,” Conley said.

The family’s home in Upper Saint Clair caught fire yesterday morning, and massive flames tore through it.

Meredith didn’t make it out.

Her parents were taken to the hospital, and according to the church’s pastor, Meredith’s dad, Bob, is in the ICU, and her mother, Susan, is awake and aware of her daughter’s passing.

“Heartbroken and sad. Just being a parent and losing a child is so tragic.”

While Conley mourns Meredith’s death, as a special needs parent herself, she admires the full life Meredith lived.

“Her parents did everything they could to make sure Meredith was reaching her potential. She touched so many people’s lives,” Conley said.
