Destiny 2 has had a lot of weapons since its release back in 2017, and while we’ve seen a lot of broken ones over the years, there have also been ones that are quite useless. And the D.A.R.C.I. sniper rifle is perhaps one of the best examples of a weak exotic weapon. But that is changing soon in Episode Heresy.

Bungie is giving this underused weapon a Gjallarhorn-style buff. With its new catalyst perk, “Networked Targeting,” D.A.R.C.I. will grant significant buffs to non-Exotic sniper rifles and improve its own performance. So if you’re a D.A.R.C.I main then this is the update you’ve been waiting for.

The D.A.R.C.I., or Data Analysis, Reconnaissance, and Cooperative Intelligence device has been in Destiny 2 since the start, but it has never found its place in the game’s meta. The AI in the weapon has an ability to scan targets and display detailed health stats but even then it has been largely dismissed. There have also always been better options like Whisper of the Worm and Cloudstrike, which had higher damage or more versatile abilities.

With Episode Heresy, Bungie is making big and much-needed changes to D.A.R.C.I. The sniper rifle will receive a new catalyst perk called Networked Targeting. And from the weekly

This perk grants improved precision damage, handling, and other performance enhancements to allies using non-Exotic sniper rifles when D.A.R.C.I.’s Personal Assistant ability is active. The buff will also stack up to five times. Besides that, the user of D.A.R.C.I. will enjoy a 15% damage boost after maxing out the buffs for a teammate. So you can also be a team and self player.

It’s a very similar situation to what happened with the Gjallarhorn. The Gjallarhorn’s unique ability to buff non-Exotic rockets has made it a fan favorite. Bungie is now applying this concept to the sniper archetype with D.A.R.C.I.’s rework.

The buff to D.A.R.C.I is part of the developers’ larger efforts to bring less-used weapons to the spotlight with Episode Heresy. Other weapons like Telesto, Lorentz Driver, Cloudstrike, Thunderlord, and more have also received buffs to make them more competitive in the meta.

Episode Heresy will also include a bunch of new weapons as well. We’re getting the Lotus-Eater, a Void Rocket-Assisted Sidearm, The Palindrome, which is an Arc Adaptive Hand Cannon, and a couple more are also coming. There will be a live stream on January 28 on the official Bungie

It’s a crucial time for Destiny 2, despite its shift to an Episodic format and the release of The Final Shape expansion, players have become increasingly frustrated with the game. With the player count at an all-time low, it feels like this once-great game is heading to its downfall with the current way it’s being handled.
