in Paradise—where he tragically lost the house he grew up in—Bill has guided viewers through some of Northern California’s most challenging moments with compassion and professionalism.

A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, Bill received his degree in Physical Geography with an emphasis in Climatology in 1982.

He subsequently pursued two years of postgraduate studies in Atmospheric Science at San Francisco State University.

His deep commitment to meteorological excellence was recognized when he earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation from the American Meteorological Society, the pinnacle of certification for on-air meteorologists.Bill’s career reflects his deep roots in the region.

His family history in Northern California dates back to the Gold Rush (making his children sixth-generation Northern Californians).

Over the years, Bill’s expertise helped shape the KTVU Weather Department into what it is today.

Now, as Bill steps away from the green screen, Bill looks forward to pursuing his passions and spending more time with his beloved dog, Karl—named after San Francisco’s famous fog.

Bill’s retirement marks the end of an era at KTVU.

His legacy as an award-winning meteorologist and a pioneer in the field will be remembered for years to come.

Congratulations Bill!
