FOX 13 Meteorologist Dave Osterberg says the high temperature in Tampa only reached 46 degrees on Wednesday, a full 25 degrees below the average high of 71.

It won’t be much warmer on Thursday, according to Osterberg, with mostly cloudy conditions and a north wind keeping the high in the low 50s.

There’s also a chance for a quick shower during the day before the skies clear out, which will allow temperatures to plummet further overnight.

Clouds will clear out on Thursday, allowing for lower temperatures Friday morning.

“As we get that clearing overnight tonight, temperatures are really going to bottom out,” Osterberg said.

“We’re looking at temperatures getting down to 30 degrees first thing tomorrow morning. Frost, as well,” Osterberg said Thursday. “Protect those plants and bring those pets in tonight in northern counties.”

The wind chill could drop to 30 degrees or below in other parts of the Bay Area, as well, prompting a cold weather advisory for the region.

This weekend will start chilly, Osterberg says, with more lows in the 30s on Saturday morning.

The high in Tampa could reach 60 degrees for the Gasparilla Pirate Fest, but with more sunshine to make it feel more comfortable during the parade.

Sunday is when we’ll really feel the warmup, according to Osterberg, with the bumping up to about 70 degrees. That trend continues into next week, when temps could finally climb back above average for this time of year.
