Pokémon TCG Pocket to introduce trading at the end of this month alongside brand-new expansion

• Pokémon TCG Pocket has unveiled that the hotly anticipated trading feature is arriving January 29th
• It’ll also launch alongside a brand-new expansion on January 30th, the next day
• The Space-Time Smackdown expansion includes fan-favourite Pokémon from the Sinnoh region

If you’ve been eagerly awaiting the release of the upcoming trading feature for Pokémon TCG Pocket, then you won’t have to wait much longer. That’s because it’s set to launch on January 29th, alongside a brand-new expansion called Space-Time Smackdown releasing the very next day!

If you haven’t already heard about it, trading is what it says on the tin where you’ll be able to trade certain rarities of cards with friends as you would be able to do in person. You’ll need to make use of trade hourglasses and trade tokens to do so, but it’s an intriguing development that looks set to help make this an even more authentic version of the iconic physical card collector.

As for the fittingly named Space-Time Smackdown expansion coming just after, this includes some fan-favourite cards being added to Pokémon TCG Pocket. Pokémon from the Sinnoh region will make their debut, with two new digital booster packs including iconic legendary Pokémon Dialga and Palkia.

Meanwhile, if you’re not too fussed on legendaries, you’ll be glad to see the introduction of other favourites like Lucario, as well as the starting trio of Sinnoh region Pokémon: Turtwig, Chimchar and Piplup. You’ll also have access to these cards via the Wonder Pick feature, as well as traditional booster packs.

I’ve no doubt that this’ll be a hit update, if only for the addition of long-awaited Pokémon to the roster. However, already I’ve noted some rumblings about how trading will work, so here’s hoping the promise of continual tweaks to that feature will ensure that it all goes smoothly.
