Shock moment woman dragged on road after man steals car with kid inside in Somerville, WA

Shocking footage has captured the moment a mum was dragged down a Western *********** street clinging to her car after a shirtless man allegedly stole her vehicle – with her child still inside.

Police have launched a manhunt for the man after his alleged brazen act was captured on CCTV on Wednesday.

In the footage, the shirtless man allegedly running from a building on the Great Eastern Highway in Somerville, near Gatacre Dr, approximately 600km northeast of Perth, about 4.05pm on Wednesday.

The man is seen running towards an orange Kia Sportage, before allegedly opening the door and driving away.

A woman can be seen chasing behind him and trying to open the door in a frantic attempt stop the vehicle.

She is dragged on the road for several metres before the car hurries off in a cloud of dust.

A child was inside the vehicle at the time it was allegedly stolen, WA Police said in a statement.

“Shortly after, the child was located safe and well by police,” a WA Police spokesman said.

Police allege the same man approached and stole a white Kia Sorento on the Great Easten Hwy in West Kalgoorlie fifteen minutes earlier – which also had two children inside.

“Shortly after, the infants were located safe and well by police,” WA Police said.

Both vehicles have been recovered by police, but the search for the unknown man remains ongoing.

The man is described as being approximately 160cm tall, of slim build, of dark complexion, and as was wearing ****** track suit pants, a ****** hoodie, and carrying a white clutch bag.
