EA’s Origin is shutting down, 32-bit users stiffed out of games

Electronic Arts is shutting down its Origin service later this year and no longer allowing people using 32-bit systems from playing its games. Those on 64-bit systems will be safe and able to transfer their library from Origin to the EA App.

— and Apple — both no longer support 32-bit systems. All you really have to do is sign into the EA App and you should be golden, with even your hours showcased.

Unfortunately, the EA App only supports 64-bit systems, so older PC or Mac users will no longer have access to any EA game unless they upgrade. There is a bitter side to this, that being Windows was offering 32-bit versions until mid-2020 when it changed to strictly 64-bit. Apple, meanwhile, released Catalina in 2019, that being its first 64-bit only system.

Origin shuts down on April 17.
