The hero-shooter is breaking records and pulling in millions of players, and that’s not a surprise considering the fact that it combines the beloved Marvel IP with Overwatch-style PvP format. (Image via NetEase Games) With the success of Marvel Rivals, you might think that DC should come up with its own hero-shooter. All the recent games we’ve seen using the DC universe have failed miserably. However, you’ll be shocked to know that DC had its own version of Marvel Rivals more than a decade ago, which was axed because of the lack of updates. DC needs to revive its own version of Marvel Rivals This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up Gotham City Imposters had a lot of potential. (Image via MrNoobTubeGamer This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up ) Over the years, we’ve seen some truly insane comic book games. Some of them have managed to achieve success, but some are regarded as nothing but disgraceful. However, one of the weirdest games to come out of the DC universe was 2012’s Gotham City Imposters. Gotham City Imposters was a multiplayer FPS that had gamers battle it out on the streets of Gotham City. Every team had six players that looked like goofy versions of DC’s most popular characters in history. One team consisted of rookie vigilantes in Batman-like outfits, and the other team had Joker-themed costumes. The main gameplay of Gotham City Imposters was like Marvel Rivals and Overwatch. A number of unique modes pushed two teams against each other to battle it out in the most wacky way possible. All the modes could be enjoyed from over-the-top maps, and the team with the most points achieved victory. That’s not all, though; gamers had tons of ways to customize their characters. Players could always change their costumes, the weapons and gadgets they brought, and even the size of their characters. All the weapons in the game were inspired by the Batman comics. Why did such a fun and unique game fail and fade into irrelevance? Well, after its release on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, it wasn’t given any updates. As we all know, updates are crucial for any free-to-play game’s survival. Gotham City Imposters wasn’t a great game in any way or shape, but it was DC’s own hero-shooter game. Considering the success Marvel Rivals has achieved, it proves that there’s still a market for such games. All DC needs to do is iron out the game’s rough edges and bombard it with updates post-release. Marvel Rivals is not free from crucial problems This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up While you might think that Marvel Rivals is absolutely nailing every aspect of its gameplay and features, that’s not the case. Over on the game’s official subreddit, one player has posted an interesting video. When the player joined the Quick Play match, it was so late that they couldn’t even choose the hero, and it ended. Since the player hopped onto the losing side at the last second, the match was recorded as a loss in their stats. That means that when a player leaves, the team will be down a player, or the match will end prematurely. That’s not the case with Quick Play, as the mode tries to fill in spots once players leave. Due to this, sometimes gamers might join the losing team. NetEase Games can easily fix this problem by preventing gamers from joining any game that’s in its final moments.
